In The Bomb, Gar Alperovitz argues that the United States can and should maintain a strong national security posture without relying on nuclear weapons.
Alperovitz, a leading historian and political economist, draws on decades of research to make the case that nuclear weapons are not only immoral and illegal, but also ineffective as a deterrent to war.
Alperovitz proposes a new approach to national security that is based on diplomacy, cooperation, and sustainable development. He argues that this approach is more likely to prevent war and promote peace than the current reliance on nuclear weapons.
The Bomb is a timely and important book that challenges the conventional wisdom on nuclear weapons. Alperovitz's clear and persuasive arguments make a compelling case for a new approach to national security.
